Pregnancy Story
I found out I was pregnant just three months after experiencing a life-changing stillbirth. After such a profound loss, I knew I couldn’t allow that moment to define me or stop me from moving forward. With hope and courage, we chose to try again—and soon after, we learned we were expecting.
Because my pregnancy was considered high-risk due to my age (over thirty-five years old), a recent loss, a history of pre-eclampsia, and chronic high blood pressure, we chose to keep the news private at first. Protecting our peace felt important during those early months. While visiting family in my home state of Washington over the Fourth of July, we finally felt ready to share our joy and announced online that we were expecting—only then did we reveal that we were expecting twins.

Any Surprises?
We didn’t find out we were having twins until my second ultrasound, when I was about 10 weeks along. I had gone in expecting a routine appointment—just a heartbeat check and updated photos. During the scan, the doctor paused, noticing what appeared to be a second head. She looked at me and gently explained that I was actually carrying twins.
I remember both of us tearing up in that moment. After everything we had been through, the news felt overwhelming in the best way—full of hope and healing. Given my high-risk pregnancy, my doctor immediately created a plan to refer me to a specialist with more advanced equipment. I was incredibly grateful for the care I received and for having switched clinics and hospitals. From that point on, I was monitored every two weeks, and then weekly, all the way until delivery.
Identical Twins Information
Our girls are identical twins. They each had their own sac but shared a placenta. The medical term is monochorionic-diamniotic (Mo-Di) twins. Thankfully, I did not develop pre-eclampsia this time. As a precaution, I was placed on baby aspirin and blood pressure medication throughout my pregnancy. I continued working right up until the day before I delivered the twins, closely supported by my care team every step of the way.

How I Felt Finding Out We Were Having Twins
Learning I was pregnant with twins felt deeply meaningful—almost redemptive—not just for me, but for my family. My grandmother passed away during labor with twins when my mother was only eight years old. She delivered her first twin boy, but she and the second twin did not survive. We did light up a lot of candles and also was gifted this lovely LED flameless candle one to remind us that we are blessed and to stay positive https://amzn.to/4aSg95O.
Because of this history, my mother was understandably fearful throughout my entire pregnancy. When I safely delivered my twins, it felt like a full-circle moment—one filled with healing and purpose. I named one of my daughters after my grandmother, my mother, and myself, making her the fourth generation to carry the name. In a way, it felt like honoring a destiny that had been left unfinished.
Although I never met my grandmother, sharing her name—and this journey—has given me a profound sense of connection, strength, and gratitude.
This journey reminded me that healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means moving forward with hope, grace, and trust. If you’re walking a similar path, know that your story is still unfolding, and you’re not alone.
